The Soft Buttons in Program Mode
UsetheOctav–andOctav+softbuttonstotransposeupordownbyafulloctave.Pressingboth
Octavbuttonssimultaneouslyreturnsthetranspositiontoitsoriginalsetting.
PressingthePanicsoftbuttonsendsanAllNotesOffmessageandanAllControllersOff
messageonall16MIDIchannels.
Pressthe
Infosoftbuttontoseeallofthecontrollerassignmentsofthecurrentprogram.Scroll
downthepageusingtheAlphaWheelorthePlus/Minusbuttons.
TheXpose‐/Xpose+buttonsareashortcutforquicktranspositioninsemitone(halfstep)
increments.Youcanusethemtotransp osetheentirePC3Kas
muchasthreeoctavesupor
down.Thetoplineofthedisplayshowsthecurrentamountoftra nsposition(Xpose).Pressing
bothXposebuttonssimultaneouslyreturnsthetranspositiontozero.TheXposebuttons
transposethePC3K,aswellasanyMIDIdevicesconnectedtothePC3K’sMIDIOutport.
Changing
thetranspositionwiththesof tbuttonsalsochangesthecorrespondingsettingonthe
MIDImodeTRANSMITpage.
The Info Box
TheinfoboxattheleftoftheProgrammodepagegivesyouinformationaboutthecurrent
program.Generally,theinfoboxshowsthekeymapassignedtoeachlayer(forKB3programs,the
infoboxshowsthekeymapusedfortheuppertonewheels.)Thelinebeneaththenameofthe
keymap
indicatesthekeyboardrangeofthatlayer.Inthediagramabove,forexample,there’sonelayer
thatextendsfromC0toC8—thedefaultrange.Therepresentationoftheselayerrangesis
approximate;they’reintendedtoletyouknowifyouhavealayeredkeyboard(lines
overlapping)or
asplitkeyboard(linesnotoverlapping ).Stereokeymaplayersareindicatedin
theinfoboxwithadoublecirclesymbol.Theinfoboxcandisplayuptofourlayersatatime.If
thecurrentprogramhasmorethanfourlayers,youcanviewtheirkeymapsbypressingand
holdingdown
theEnterbuttonandscrollingwiththeChan/Layerbuttons.
Note:ForVA S T layersusingKVAoscillators,theinfoboxmayormaynotshowthenameoftheoscillator

Controllers Assignments For Factory ROM Programs
ManyoftheprogramsincludedwiththePC3K(factoryROMprograms)canbe controlledby
usingthePC3K’sphysicalcontrollers(sliders,wheels,switches,pedals,etc.)PresstheInfosoft
buttontoseeallofthecontrollerassignmentsofthecurrentprogram.Hereisalistofcontrollers
andtheircommonlyassigned
programparameters:
• SliderI(MIDI28)‐SliderIusuallycontrolstheprogram’ssendleveltoanAuxeffect
(usuallyreverbordelay.)Inthiscase,usesliderItocontrolthereverbordelaylevel.
• SWSwitch‐TheSWswitchoftenenablesalayer(likestringsforpianoprogram)or
an
effect.
• ModWheel‐TheModWheeloftenworkswiththeparameterassignedtotheSWswitch
andcontrolsthelevelofalayerorthelevelorintensityofaneffectsuchastremolo,vibrato,
orwah.
• SlidersA‐H‐SlidersAandBoftencontrolfilterorEQ
parametersthatchangethe
“brightness”oftheprogram.SlidersCthroughHusuallycontrolparametersspecifictothe
currentprogramsamplitudeenvelopes,layervolumes,andinserteffectparameters.Press
theInfosoftbuttontoseeallofthecontrollerassignmentsofthecurrentprogram.
